The Information and Communication Technology Unit of DepEd Cebu City Division will conduct the ICT Coordinators 3rd Quarter Virtual Conference on August 18, 2022.
The following are the agenda of the meeting:
- Status of Borrowed DCP Laptop/Desktop Units
- Submission of ICT Coordinator designation
- Policy on ICT Equipment disposal
- District Coordinator Election
- ICT Unit Communications channel
- Scope and limitation for technical assistance
- Links on the directory/updating of DCP packages status and internet connectivity
- Policy of DICT's free WIFI connection
- Other matters
Update: (August 18, 2022)
I attended today the virtual meeting for the South District ICT coordinators. We were greeted by the new Division Information Technology Officer, Mr. Arnel Albarando together with Ma'am Lia and Sir Whiskey. The agenda of the meeting were introduced and discussed as follows:
Status of Borrowed DCP Laptop/Desktop Units
Sir Arnel said that the borrowed DCP Laptop/Desktop units during the pandemic should be returned in preparation for the face-to-face classes. He is going to consult the SDS regarding the memorandum.
Submission of ICT Coordinator Designation
ICT designation for the newly appointed ICT coordinators should be submitted in the office, while there is no need to submit designation for those who have submitted already and the school did not change the coordinator. It will be keep as is.
Policy on ICT Equipment Disposal
The school ICT Infrastructure should coordinate with the school property custodian.
District ICT Coordinator Election
The school ICT coordinators logged to their breakout rooms to elect a district ICT coordinator. For the South District 3, Ma'am Louwella Suson from Pasil Night High School were unanimously elected.
ICT Unit Communications Channel
Telephone number is available and can be contacted for the whole week. Aside from the Group chat in the messenger, The ICT Unit Fb Page (ICT Section) caters concerns and issues and should be utilized rather than chatting directly to personal accounts of the ICT staff in the Messenger.

Scope and Limitation for Technical Assistance
ICT Division team lend technical assistance provided that the materials, venue, equipment, tools and other important accessories should be prepared by the school. This include working table, outlet, and other materials such as safety boxes are already laid out.

Policy of DICT's Free-Wifi Connection
DICT WIFI is Free for All but cannot fully service when there are too many users at the same time. The school can extend using repeater but the materials should be charged to the school not from DICT. It was reported from other ICT coordinators that some were installed with password so not anyone can use it. Sir Arnel reminded that it should be public and for all. No one should set password on it.
Other Matters/Reminders:
DepED Account concerns regarding DepEd Email and O365 Accounts should addressed to deped-e-requests.cebucity@deped.gov.ph using school DepEd Email account with the provided format or template.
Sir Arnel mentioned that he will empower the district and school ICT coordinators and will asks the concerned offices to de-load the ICT coordinators based on Division Memorandum 325, s. 2019 entitled Designation of District and School ICT coordinators, with a separate Memorandum issued by the Office of Undersecretary for Administration.
Another issue that was raised is regarding the exclusion of ICT coordinatorship in the promotion and ranking. It was not given credits in the promotion and ranking guidelines. Sir Arnel said he will raise this issue too.
In addition, the upcoming English Proficiency Test for this year's applicant for teacher I is set tentatively on September 6 and 7. This year's EPT is computer-based exam and some identified school computer laboratories will be used and ICT coordinators were asked to prepare the room, equipment, and internet connectivity.
The meeting ended with a fruitful discussion and hoping that issues will be resolved in due time.

School ICT Coordinators were asked to submit designation for the current school year to be furnished in 3 copies and to be submitted in the ICT Office.
